Excellent synopsis of the “elephant in the room”: FEAR
For me, it became old after the first two weeks. I knew CONvid was bs. I think the worst part for me was having to deal with all the insanity of idiots-adults that lost the ability to reason.
Just a week ago, I saw a woman alone, outside, with 3 MASKS ON HOLDING A FACE SHIELD!
The stupidity of people has become absolutely annoying to me.
Once again, superb writing and excellent points. You know I am on board with you regarding how we got here...it is actually quite a fascinating process if you can stand back and just observe. I'll be scribbling notes for my next article as the flames of hell wrap around me.
I just came back from a cruise with ports in Barcelona, Florence, Marseille, Rome...wow...what a difference...but I am not so sure I am comfortable with it, it seems like another form of compliance...I wrote a bit about it here...(this is not yet published)
Most EU governments, despite being directed by Brussels, are still much less centralized and cohesive than the US government, and the people generally have much less trust in them, with a few notable exceptions, like in Norway, where over 90% of the population fully trusts the government. So...with that important caveat, I do believe more freedom can be found right now in Europe than in North America. I agree, though, that the populations in the larger cities in Western Europe exhibit a frightening degree of compliance. I think you need to go far south (Croatia, Montenegro, Albania) or east (Romania, Moldova) to really get away from it. Central Europe is mixed--Hungary is largely free, Poland a bit less, Czech Republic not at all). Your point in the article above is important--until accountability has been brought in the unfree nations, there is no reason to trust them in the future. Thus, relocating to a country that may be dysfunctional or corrupt but at least did not, cannot, and will not destroy its people through evil, centralized, antihuman policies.
You present this so well and so succinctly...thank you. Fear is of course the driving force, no doubt, but I know quite a few folks who don't seem to be afraid at all, but are just serious "compliers" ...they would do anything they were told to do. Their obedience really has nothing to do with the virus...in fact, if it were announced definitively that NO ONE was in danger of a disease, but that we should still wear masks, they would put one on. Who are these people from a psychological perspective? And are they a majority or minority?
I see them as fear addicts. They don't even realize that their behaviors are fear-driven, because the original fear stimulus has long since passed. Now the behavior is simply unconscious and reflexive. That's why I call it an addiction.
BTW...I also wanted to thank you for you and Dr. Barke's lawsuit in California...the bravery you have exhibited during this whole insanity is nothing short of super hero. It is such an honour for me to know you. Thank you.
I totally get the fear addict thing, you are absolutely right...but my wife has never been afraid of anything...sure, at first she didn't want to get the "virus"...but she wasn't overly afraid of it...now, she isn't afraid at all (she had a nasty case of Covid in the summer). But she would comply with ANYTHING the government shelled out...is that still a form of fear? I guess anyone who succumbs to authority is exhibiting some sort of fear...fear of losing stability, fear of chaos, fear of no longer belonging to the "good upright citizen" club...I wrote an article about this that sort of focuses on this idea that many people just don't want to lose membership in the "upstanding citizen" club.... https://www.shrewviews.com/p/spitting-angry
Excellent and concise summary of how we got here. I didn't know about the AFLDS DC appearance being scrubbed in 24 hours. Wow.

I came up with another idea recently as I travel throughout Europe. I'll post about it soon.
