I share your hope for a countermovement to develop. So sad

that there is no place left to go for guaranteed individual rights. It is so

hard to understand why more people are

not seeing the writing on the wall.

We're nearing that point where either one will appear, or we will end.

I was born in the US, on Guam actually (a US territory) while my father was serving as a career Naval officer. I have always loved the fact I was an American citizen. Ten years ago I married a Canadian woman and moved to Canada. I have paid BOTH US and Canadian income tax (don't let them fool you when you hear you only pay tax in one country, you don't, you pay in both...you don't pay as much as "double tax" but each country wants their due).

I was considering giving up my US citizenship, but just couldn't do it due to my love for America. Besides, Canada has become one of the most oppressive countries on earth, and there are still clearly better places to live in the states where freedom is still protected and viewed as sacrosanct.

I too settled in Los Angeles in the 80's to pursue a career in film (music) and did pretty well...I have not been back in about six years...and wonder if it is now as bad as many of my old friends say it is...

Wow--that is a tough decision. To be a citizen of two of what used to be the freest countries in the world...
