Dr. M, It might be that there are no comments because this is a lot to chew on. I try not to think about all we have lost in the past three years. Not because I am in denial, but because it would only serve to depress me. The world we grew up in no longer exists, and much of what we lost doesn’t really matter. I know that this is a battle between good and evil and the loss of most of my prior life prepares me for the fight that lies ahead. Thank you for your wisdom and inspiration. It’s an honor to fight alongside you. God bless you.
I am the first to admit that I am still "chewing on" a lot. My perspective shifts constantly. Much of what I read out and hear second-hand turns out to be largely false or incomplete. That is why there is no substitute to on-site experience and one-on-one discussions with local people. Only from that can you arrive at something resembling current reality. Those who are prepared to let go of what was and embrace an unknown future are the only ones who have a chance at real freedom and happiness now. Everyone else will be forced to choose between the eternal misery of living a life depleted of freedom with full awareness of what was lost, and living a false life of comfort with no freedom (like a well-cared for pet) while ignoring the ugly truth of that reality. I vote for option three--accept the decline of the west as now inevitable and find a better place to spend the remaining years of your life.

James Lindsay is sharp, funny, and strategic. I enjoyed meeting his two years ago in Orange County at a school board meeting.
